IEC moving forward to glorious era with the biogas power plant.

Dr. Bhusana Premanode, President of the international Engineering Public Company Limited (IEC), clarifies plans for investment on the biogas power plant.

Kampaengphet Biogas Power Plant with a capacity of 5.8 MW, has completed construction of the plant, which now has been pending for the electrical connections and the new tariff from PEA. (The rate of electricity purchase a new Feed-in Tariff at 5.43 baht per sector power plants MW)

IEC expects to sell commercial (COD) in Q1/2016, the project is located at. Lan Dok Mai district, Muang. Kamphaeng Phet. The biogas power plant has been invented by modern technology to produce biogas, giving no waste from the production system and environmentally friendly. The biogas power plant project put an investment of 400 million baht, with a return of 17.42 percent and a payback period of 4.7 years.

Suphanburi Biogas Power plant with capacity of 10.6 MW, has been granted the PPA. The project represents an investment of 900 million baht with a return of the project to 15 percent and the duration of the payback of 4.3 years, is expected to supply electricity commercially (COD) in 2017. This biogas power plants use waste from producing sugar cane to supply biogas.

The IEC also plans to invest in biogas power plant is adding two more locations, Hatyai and Rayong. The two power plants will produce electricity from food waste, which will be fermented to biogas. The biogas Hatyai has an investment of 104 million baht, rate of return of 16.2 percent and the period payback of 6.7 years.

For the biogas Rayong has invested 197 million baht, Rate of return 16 percent and a payback period of 4 years The two plants have total capacity of 4.5 MW. They are both expected to launch commercial operations in the year 2016.

The investment in power plants have consistent with the strategic plan and business operations of the IEC that focus on investing in renewable energy, which is supported by the government as well, and IEC believes that earnings will grow in the future and a sustainable income from the new business investment.
